Aspen High School's Post-Secondary Counseling is committed to helping each student create a personalized plan and guide them towards realizing their dreams for life after high school -- whether that includes: 4-year colleges, 2-year colleges, technical/trade schools, professional certifications, apprenticeships, military, workforce, or other.

Mike Rowe, ofDirty Jobs fame, joins the PBS News Hour to discuss the need for skilled tradespeople.

Post-Secondary Counseling, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, hosted an event on February 3rd titled "Practical Alternatives to a Traditional 4-Year Degree" to explore a variety of options for next steps after high school including skills-based, hands-on training programs that prepare students for steady jobs with lucrative pay.

Workforce Centers provide a variety of free services to assist employers and job seekers alike.

These include:

  • Job listings
  • Computer and internet access
  • Career counseling and training for job seekers
  • Recruitment of workers, pre-screening, and referral services
  • Tax credits and training reimbursement for employers
  • Customers can choose either self-service or staff-assisted options to meet their employment needs.

Post- High School Resource List

Western Colorado Independent Electrical Contractors offers an Electrical Orientation Class for high school juniors and seniors. Deadline to Apply is February 13th. Class starts on February 15th.  Click here for more information and here to apply.


A single graduating senior will be hired as a full-time seasonal Utility Worker I for the summer, with an opportunity to be awarded up to a $15,000 scholarship to an Electrical Lineworker Certificate Program.
