CLASS OF 2024 Spring Reminders:

Dear Seniors and Parents:

Spring is such an exciting time for graduating seniors, and we wanted to share a few important reminders:

DECISION DAY

In a typical year, most colleges and universities require that students decide where they will enroll and make a housing deposit by the May 1st National Decision Day deadline. Because of FAFSA delays this year, many schools are delaying their decision deadline to June 1st and beyond. Students/parents who would like help making a decision - understanding financial aid offers and weighing options - may schedule an appointment with their Post-Secondary Counselor
BELL RINGING

We are continuing the bell-ringing tradition! The idea is to celebrate all students when they have made their Post-Secondary plans -- whether that be college, trade school, work, gap year or other. Students who have committed to a college, or another path after high school, may come ring the bell in the Mezzanine during lunch. Please check in with one of the Post Secondary staff before ringing the bell.

UPDATE SCOIR - mark as "Enrolling"

It is so important for the Post-Secondary office to have up-to-date information regarding where students have been admitted, waitlisted, or denied and most importantly where you will attend next year. For those who have decided, click on the college name where you plan to enroll. If you have already indicated in SCOIR that have been accepted, simply click "Mark as Enrolling." If you haven't indicated in SCOIR that you have been accepted, you will first need to click on "Edit Outcome" and mark as "Accepted", and then click on "Mark as Enrolling." Updating Scoir is required so that your final high school transcript can be sent to the school where you willl attend. Additionally, it would be very helpful for our records if you could indicate whether you applied with or without test scores. Please stop by Susanne's office for help updating Scoir.

STAY ENGAGED IN SCHOO

Second-semester senior grades actually do matter. Colleges can rescind offers of admission if grades drop dramatically. You're almost done ... finish stron

FINANCIAL AID OFFERS, FAFSA & LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The Department of Ed has started to release FAFSA Submission Summaries (including a Student Aid Index SAI). Students can log in to their FAFSA account, go to "My Activity" and click on 2024-25 FAFSA form (which should be marked with green check and "processed"). Then, scroll down and click on the blue button "FAFSA Submission Summary." Submission Summary information will be sent to all of the schools that were listed on the FAFSA form. With the release of FAFSA information, schools have begun preparing financial aid packages. Students who applied for financial need-based Local Scholarships should upload a copy of their FAFSA Submission Summary, confirm their SAI and share financial aid packages awarded by top choice schools via THIS FORM.

FINAL TRANSCRIPTS & TEST SCORES

In mid-June, when all grades have been sealed, Susanne will send final Aspen High School transcripts to the schools marked "Enrolling" in Scoir. For students who applied with SAT or ACT test scores, official score reports may be required and students are responsible for ordering these reports from either Collegboard or ACT. IB transcripts, including exam scores, may also be sent to colleges for potential college credit consderation. Eileen Knapp will communicate with students in May regarding their IB transcript preferences.
